Dude: The Robot was a mini-game developed between 2004 and 2007 by Dennington Games (later known as RJD Software Development and absorbed into the Ginever Alliance as of January 2012). Development of the game started with Game Maker 4 and an initial demo (v1.0) was made available in October 2004. The fact that Game Maker 6 had just been released led to an updated version of the game built with GM6 (v1.1) being almost immediately released. Updates continued to be released over the next 12 months, with a fully complete version consisting of four levels (v1.6) being released on 28 October 2005. The final version (v1.7a) added compatibility with Windows Vista and was released on 3 March 2007.

After the release of version 1.7a, RJD Enterprise Solutions began to construct a sequel to the game called "Dude: The Return". Unfortunately, all work on the sequel was lost in the 2007 hard drive crash. As a direct result of this, the sequel was cancelled.

In August 2008, a special version of the game was sent to Basin is BACK upon his request, with the version number "1.7.1 BASIN EDITION". It included the message "EXCLUSIVELY COMPILED JUST FOR BASIN!" in the help, but was otherwise identical to v1.7a.

The Ginever Alliance no longer provides support or downloads for the game.
