MedShaft is a 2D Platformer game made by Medessec Software Development to be included in the Medessec Travelcade. It is currently on final release, and although the beta can be downloaded for free from the Medessec Website, the final is compiled and will be included in the Medessec Travelcade.
Gameplay
In the game's beginning, the player is started at the bottom of a vertical shaft, and the player is given the simple objective of reaching the top. Numbers line the side intending to create an easy way for the player to track their progress. The game is composed of 3 large levels, with the 2nd and 3rd being exceptionally more challenging than the 1st. In the 1st level the game simply presents itself to be a simple platformer, then the player encounters platforms that disappear when they touch it and platforms that the player can go straight through. And in the next level, the player encounters speed arrows that boost their jumps, and red boxes that send them back to the start. The game then shows to be a challenging, elaborate and seemingly impossible 2D platformer.
Reception
The game has received mostly positive comments for its classic feel and traditional sense as a 2D platformer, and the amazing change of pace when you enter a new level. Others see it as crudely made, with the poor spriting on Level 1 and the fact that the speed arrows on levels 2 and 3 don't respawn after you use them. This game has been used constantly as the mascot game for the Travelcade for it is considered the most popular of the main games.
Future
It is currently planned that MedShaft will be succeeded by another 2D platformer in its role as a Medessec Travelcade game, probably GIF2. The title MedShaft will be discontinued near the arrival of the second version of the Travelcade, however a date has not been announced yet.
